Robertson Distribution Map
Red = 1 in 100 people bearing the Robertson Name
Green = 1 in 1000 people bearing the Robertson Name
Dark Blue = 1 in 10,000 people bearing the Robertson Name.
This is a useful tool in tracking the migration and immigration patterns of the
Robertson Family in America. Of course the concentration is relative to the states
population only, not the overall population of the United States.
In 1990 the highest concentration of Robertsons was found in Virginia and
Louisiana, followed closely by Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
However in 1920 Arizona boasted 1 in every 100 people bearing the name of
Robertson and Idaho wasn't far behind. While in 1880 only 1 in 10,000 people
in those states were Robertsons.
In 1880 Virginia, South Carolina and Texas claimed the largest concentration of
Robertsons with aproximately 1 in every 500 people bearing that name.
In 1850 Virginia's population included one in every 750 people bearing the name
of Robertson. The states with the highest concentration of Robertson's was
Mississippi, followed by Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Jersey and
Alabama.

Roberson Family Distribution
Because enumerators and clerks were nortotious for mis-spelling names it is
important to remember to check out variants of the family name. Roberson is
the most often used variant of Robertson, and as you can tell from the
distribution maps there are a lot of Roberson family members in the United
States. Interestingly in 1920 when Arizon boasted 1 in every 100 people
using the name Robertson, the same is true of Roberson and this may be due
to the way the data was analyzed and not that one in every 50 or so people
were either a Robertson or a Roberson.
