Linda Hardiman Smith of Harvest, Alabama, who also
is a descendant of Uriah Hardiman, son of John of Buckingham.  But in her
answer to my question regarding the father of John Hardiman b 1738, she
replied on January 31, 2001, Quote

"Gene - in checking my records I show that John Hardyman( Hardiman) son of
Francis I and brother of
Francis II married Elizabeth Ann Stith.  He did have a son named John who
married Hannah Harrison in Surry Co., Va.  This John was born ca 1745 and
supposedly died "without issue".  The following is from a book entiteld
"Virginia State Troops, State Line" p 549.

Quote "John Hardyman, Lieut. 2 Va. State Regt. comm. Sept 24, 1779, Feb 12,
1783, a warrant was issued by the State of Va. for 2,666 acres of land.  He
md Miss Hannah Harrison, and d in 1808. in Elizabeth Co., Va. without issue.
  He had a bro. Stith Hardyman, who d leaving a son Tyler Hardyman and the
latter d in Ala. leaving children.  He (John)  also had a sister, who m
Peter Eppes and the children of this marriage were the only heirs of John
Hardyman in 1856"

He married (first) Henrietta Maria, daughter of Captain John Taylor, clerk in 1699 of Charles City, and who died in 1707. He married (second) Jane Cross, widow of John Cross.

On 23 July 1741, "Mrs. Duke came and told us that Frank Hardyman was dead." (Diary of William Byrd) Mrs. Duke was Elizabeth Taylor, sister of Sarah Taylor Hardyman. In Jan 1741/2, Jane Hardyman was appointed guardian of her 2 children, James and Martha Hardyman (Charles City Co. Order Book 1737-1751, p. 215)

Mary Sarah Taylor [Parents] married Lt. Col. Francis Hardiman on 1715.

VA Bio. confuses with her sister Henrietta Maria Taylor, but most researchers agree that it was Mary Sarah. See Diary of William Byrd whose entries note that Sarah Taylor visited at Westover every few months after her sister's (Henrietta Maria) wedding, and did not marry Francis Hardyman until after April 29, 1711.

Capt. John Taylor married Henrietta Maria Hill.
