was at Bristol in 1685 when he was exiled from England because of his activity in the Monmouth Rebellion. He apparently came to America with one John How.

Died after being kicked in the breast by his race horse (Secret Diary of Colonel William Byrd of Virginia). He did not leave a will and his son John was appointed administrator of his estate.

In 1704, he owned 872 acres in that part of Charles City County, south of the James River, which the Council decided in Aug 1702 should become Prince George County in 1703.

Before 1685, he had married Mary Epes, full sister of Littlebury Epes and half sister of Francis Epes II, the children of Francis Epes I, who also lived on the south side of the James River.
